The 5 winning drawings of the Sardine 2024 Competition have been announced. This year, a total of 1823 writers competed, submitting 3582 proposals (2587 Portuguese and 995 foreign) from 63 countries.
All five of the illustrators of the designs, four Portuguese and one Dutch, were women between the ages of 17 and 42.
The meanings of the sardines designed in the 14th edition of the competition supported by EGEAC are as follows;
- Carnations (to celebrate the 50th anniversary of April 25),
- Books (the basis of knowledge and imagination), ,
- Olive oil (caricature of rising prices),
- Cheese (a specialty product for people around the world and beyond) and
- Varina (who sells fresh sardines) covers the sardines in the winning basket with meat.
In this 14th year, like last year, the winning sardines were chosen by the votes of EGEAC workers.
