51st lnternational Humor Exhibition of Piracicaba 2024 Brazil


The 51st Piracicaba International Humor Exhibition, held by Piracicaba City Hall, through Semac (Secretariat for Cultural Action) and Cedhu (Piracicaba National Graphic Humor Center) opened this year's registrations today, 4/04. The registration form and regulations, which provide dates, participation rules, prizes and other information, are available on the event website salaointernacionaldehumor.com.br. The 51st edition will open on 08/31.

As the regulations highlight, entries for works in all categories must be made by June 16th. The document also establishes the 51st Piracicaba International Humor Exhibition, which will be open to free visitors at Armaz̩m 14, in Parque do Engenho Central, until 11/3. The new features of the 2024 edition are the Arcor Institute Award РChildren's Law, in honor of the Institute's 20 years in Brazil, in addition to the Thematic Award category, which this year is Women.

Regarding the participation of artists, the regulations point out that professionals and amateurs can submit authorial works that were not previously selected and were not awarded at the Piracicaba International Humor Exhibition or other graphic events until the registration closing date.

Work can be sent by post or courier, by email or in person at Cedhu, which is located in the Engenho Central administrative building.

Each artist can submit a maximum of three works per category, which in this 51st edition are: cartoon (graphic humor with universal and timeless themes), cartoon (graphic humor with current journalistic themes), caricature (graphic humor that expresses physical features and/or or known personality character). strips/comics (graphic art in sequence; for comics, stories with a maximum of two pages will be accepted) and sculptures ((3D humor works), in addition to the Unimed Saúde Award.

Junior Kadeshi, director of the Humor Salon, comments on this stage of the 51st edition. “We launched the regulations for the 2024 edition with the expectation of surpassing the registration records of previous years. The Woman Theme, suggested for this year, opens up a sea of inspiration for artists from all over the world to venture out and talk about this extraordinary and wonderful being, from where we all come!”

PRIZES 
– The 51st edition will offer R$90,000 in purchasing prizes. There will be five prizes worth R$7,500.00 each, divided between categories – cartoon, cartoon, caricature, sculpture and strips. The Thematic – Women category will also award a prize of R$ 7,500.00, intended for works in any category (cartoon, cartoon, caricature or strip). There is also a prize of R$ 15,000.00 called the Grand Prize, chosen from the winners in the five basic categories (cartoon, cartoon, caricature, sculpture, comic strip and thematic prize).

The award called the Alceu Marozi Righetto Popular Jury Award will award R$7,500.00 via open electronic voting. Competing works will be chosen from among the honorable

mentions chosen by the Selection Jury. The nominees, as well as the voting period and location, will be announced at the opening of the event. The Piracicaba Chamber of Councilors Award, exclusive to the caricature category, will offer R$7,500.00. There is another prize of R$ 7,500.00 called the Unimed Health Prize, intended for works in any category that explore the health theme, paid by the company Unimed Piracicaba.

And, finally, there will be a prize worth R$7,500.00, called the Arcor Institute Prize – Children's Rights, intended for works in any category that explore the theme of children's rights, paid directly to the artist by the Arcor Institute.
